My vision: 20/15 (last checked a couple years ago as part of a regular maintenance after eye surgery...I'm pretty sure it's still the same)
TV/Monitor Size: 42 inches
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Recommended Distance: 87.3 inches
My actual distance: About 2-3 feet (24-36 inches)

So needless to say, I can easily make out pixels and can easily make out the difference between 1080p and 720p. I would go with a 4K TV but I'm having a hard time finding one as small as 42 inches.

Yup, you do seem to need a 4k tv considering how close you sit to the TV. Why don't you go for 46", there are quit a few 4k 46" on the market (i think)

I might some day.  At the moment, Best Buy Canada's smallest 4K TV is 49 inches.  That's an extra 7 inches that may not be feasible.  And those things are still bloody expensive. About 1700 right now, which is more than I wish to spend on a display right now. I'm pretty happy with my setup at the moment, but when it comes time to upgrade my gaming PC in a year or two, I will see what the options and prices are like. I don't know if my video card could easily handle a 4K resolution right now anyways.
