My favourite memory of Sonic is from a few years ago. I thought to myself "I really like mascot platformers" and "Crash Bandicoot was described as 'Sonic's ass' game" so I decided to give a few of them a try.
I played Sonic Heroes for a few hours and no word of a lie, it gave me the most banging headache I'd had in a while.
I played Sonic Colours a few months later, and while it didn't give me a headache it just wasn't any fun. At all. 'Platforming' without actually doing anything.
I gave up on Sonic after that. I really want to like Sonic games, but I just don't. At all.
Guess I was playing it fast and loose with the word "favourite" there.
