We (US) need to get it through our fucking heads that we aren't the world's police. We should shut down all military bases around the world and focus on internal issues. IF nato, or the leading nations of the free world ASK for our involvement in another countries affairs, then we should consider...CONSIDER...it.

i wouldn't go that far in terms of isolationism but the majority of the American populace agree that we need to really step down when it comes to active foreign policy in international affairs.

that being said though i don't favor outright isolationism for the sole reason that it'd be a dick move to the nations who we've become strong allies with.  for example i think we have not an obligation per say, but somewhat of a duty to continue working with our friends in South Korea and be ready to jump in if Kim ever actually makes any moves.  similarly if nations such as U.K., Japan etc were to ever face invasion (of course that would be a ridiculously escalated conflict of pretty major historical significance) i think we would also face a similar "duty" to basically not abandon our allies.

although i'm pretty sure defensive pacts are in place to guarantee all that anyway.
