I remember COD MW3 received great reviews on IGN. It was either a 10 or a 9.5 or something, and they praised it, and then the negative user reviews started coming in along with complaints and harsh criticism. IGN subsequently published an article about how "disappointed" they were in COD MW3 and listed why. Now ... I'm inclined to think it scored well because it was COD, and at the time it was normal for them to do so. I'm also inclined to think that the article which derided the game would have never come out if there wasn't backlash from the players.
Mass Effect 3 is an interesting one since some reviewers claimed the ending wasn't a bother to them. Eh ....
Skyrim on PS3 wasn't even played well by many reviewers, they just slapped a 10 and deemed it a perfect game (oh you IGN). At launch that game should not have been more than a 7 on PS3. This scenario is a bit different since it's a specific version, but it just shows how lazy some reviewers are and are willing to assign a figure based on the name or another build or how the previous game ran on the hardware.
Nintendo games. I love their games, but some of them don't deservie those 10s lol
That's one ....
Two .... in some cases, no. NG3 was crapped on by almost every reviewer, despite the stellar performance of the previous games.
GOW:Ascensions wasn't received well by some and the previous games did extremely well critically speaking.
