There was no story. So that's not a worry.
I'm thinking they will call the new one Titanfall : Alpha or something like that. Essentially a reboot into a new series that does feature a SP mode and connective storyline. Starting a campaign with tf2 wouldn't make sense IMHO. So they have to convert the 2nd game into a new start. And please have a real next gen engine, source needs to be taken out back and shot.
