Respawn actually went to Sony first for Titanfall. But Sony stayed tightlipped on the specs of the PS4 to Respawn. Instead, offering them to put their game on the Vita instead.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-and-pc-game-titanfall-was-originally-prototyped-running-on-a-ratchet-clank-engine/1100-6419042/

The original game ran on Insomniacs "Luna" Ratchet and Clank engine. This was Sony's snafu that the game found it's way as an exclusive on MS systems, and PC.

But there's Titanfall 2 to look forward to.

Actually, this was all EA's doing.  Respawn themselves thought the game would end up on the PS3/4 until they learned EA and MS made a deal to keep it a console exclusive forever.  This was right before the X1 and PS4's launch.  (http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2013/10/30/microsoft-ensures-titanfall-will-never-come-to-sonys-ps4/)

This always sounded like BS to me. Sure EA is publishing the game, but the TF IP is owned by Respawn. This isn't like COD where Activision gets to do whatever they want with the IP and the devs have no power over it.

How does EA manage to sign an exclusivity deal for a game without even letting the people who OWN the IP and are developing the game first know about it?
