You think they're a new breed? Really?
They've existed at least since Sony entered the "race" - that is, when there were three major competing consoles. They probably existed before that, too.
I call them anti-fanboys. They're not so much a "new breed of fanboy", as they are the polar opposite of a regular fanboy. Fanboys are defined by their love of a particular company. Anti-fanboys are defined by their hatred of a particular company. Kind of sad in both cases, but at least fanboys are driven by positivity. This is why the anti-fanboys are so annoying - they go into threads on topics related to their hated company, and make negative comments, usually without concern for context, details, or the opinions/feelings of anybody but themselves.
Unfortunately, people have a tendency to confuse them with regular fanboys, and thus regular fanboys tend to be derided not just for their excessive praise of one company, but also for their excessive hatred of others, even though most regular fanboys don't particularly hate any of the other companies.
In the end, I think the only way to respond to these people is the same as the way to respond to trolls - if you can't identify their weak points (for massive damage :P), ignore them. Anti-fanboys get entertainment from riling up the fanboys and other fans of the company that they hate - in effect, they're kind of like exclusive trolls, in that they like trolling, but only against a certain company.
