I read about that Nvidia trick to get 4K@60Hs over HDMI at Anandtech with a bit more detail on what's going on

Personally, I fail to see the appeal of that to most of us. Sure, for those that have a 4K TV and an HTPC it makes sense, but for those with a Monitor that want to play at that resolution, I don't think the trade off is worth it. After all, most of the enthusiasts that game at that res have also choosen a monitor with an IPS panel to enjoy the colors, so why would they trade that image quality when they can simply use the DisplayPort conector?
