Who says they don't play it?

When the Wii came out, people would show off Wii Sports to their friends, and those friends would go out and buy a Wii to play the game.

That's how the Wii became a phenomenon, because people loved playing Wii Sports.

In addition there is word of mouth, if your friend or someone else whose opinion you trust tells you something is awesome, you're more likely to try it out.

Not to mention people can see videos of games online, if the game looks awesome then they will be more likely to try it out (as a personal example, seeing splatoon's video made me really excited for the game)

Do u honestly believe all 29m owners of NSMB have played the sequel?

U cant give Wii Sports all the credit for Wii success, it played a large part but there were many other factors involved.

Word of mouth and videos are not nearly the same as playing a game.
