While I agree that the consoles will last just as long as any other generation, Sony's 10 year plan isn't going to work this time. Without a dominant marketshare, third party developers will drop the system faster as the next Wii and NextBox are replaced in anywhere from 2-4 years. Sony isn't going to have the luxury of continuing development of a system with fabulous third party support because it's outselling all the competition combined as it did with the PS1 & 2. The Wii might have been able to take the PS2s place but it will be horribly underpowered by 2012 and people will be looking for more bang for their buck at that point, no matter how casual they are.
