The second half was better from Spain, but they failed to score early (they had the chances to do so) to make things interesting. I see a lot of contempt for Spain in this thread, but I reiterate that your anger against tiki-taka should be directed at the teams who chose to surrender to it all those years. A ball control style in the opposing half requires extreme precision, it's not something that can be adopted by teams with no talent (unlike derivatives of catenaccio). And yes, Costa sucks. Two games and the greatest thing he did was a dive (which is despicable). If people repeatedly bash players like Messi and Rooney for their performances in their respective national team (and rightly so), then Costa can be called out all the same.
EDIT: And like someone else already said, the success of Barcelona and Spain is closely linked to each other, because the core of both teams is the same.

They deserve it. Barcelona play tiki-taka football and it looks brilliant, Spain however are incredibly boring when they do it. Barcelona have players like Messi, Sanchez and Neymar that make the style work and look good with plenty of goals. Spain have Costa and Torres

Neymar hasn't won anything with Barcelona, Alexis sucks at passing and Messi without Xavi and Iniesta is only half as good as he seems *points to Argentina*. This season, with Neymar and Alexis instead of Villa and Pedro, Barcelona hasn't won anything and scored way less goals.
Spain hasn't looked as great as they did in 2008 because del Bosque insisted in duct-taping players that don't fit like Xabi Alonso (or even worse, Manchester City players like Silva), and stick with Torres. We could've played with Barcelona's starting midfielders and forwards except for Messi (Busquets-Xavi-Iniesta, Villa-Cesc-Pedro).
