I don't see Xbox Ones "flying off the shelves" locally here in the Seattle area...and Amazon is tracking it at #45 or so (compared to #7 for the standard PS4 and #9 for the PS4/Destiny bundle), so I am not expecting any great seismic shift in sales due to the lower price. It's just not that great a console, and customers realize it. I fully expect MS to finish the year somehwere around 5.5-6 million units based on current trends (since Jan 1). The PS4 should finish somewhere north of 15 million.

What? So you expect it to sell only 1.5mil more for the rest of the year?

Yeah about that. Sounds right considering their current sales.

No, they will sell about the same amount in Oct-Dec that they did for Jan-Sept. So basically, 1.5m min as of right now in the last 3months. Let's say another million for the next 3 months means 2.5m last 3 months. In other words, probably more than 8m by years end

While under normal circumstances I might agree with you that they could expect a significant sales bump during the holidays, I just don't see it happening this year. I think sales through October will continue to slide, and I think that Holiday sales will be FAR weaker than anyone anticipates...there just aren't any good games coming out this year. Halo will sell well to fans of the series, but I don't see a remastering of old games moving consoles. None of the other titles announced at E3 will move consoles either. We will see...
