So cover-based shooters are inherently bad now? Dang, and Microsoft just paid a lot of money for Gears.

You do realize Gears has some massive open areas.......right?

So far RAD hasnt shown any for The Order. That doesnt mean there is none but comparing The Order to Gears doesnt make much sense since from a gameplay perspective they dont share much at all.

You do realize that we've only seen a few minutes of game-play from The Order........right?

Reaching a conclusion from that doesn't make much sense.

That out of the way, I also think "linear can't be fun" is stupid.

I agree. I HATE open world games so much repetitive BS and unneccessary framerate/resolution downgrade to accomplish that.  Most people I know who don't frequent gamer sites don't like open world games.  The only open world game they like is GTA.  Linear games are much more fun to me.  Example: I loved Assassins Creed 1 and 2 and haven't played a game since because of there "oh our world is so much more open this time" attitude, 3 and 4 are just BORING and TIRESOME to play.  On another note the Uncharted Series and Last of Us (notoriously linear) have never let me down.  Reason: I never have to go searching for action.  I am LED to action.
