Curious about the hype for Bayonetta

It's known for it's fast, fluid and complex combat system and it's a lot of fun to play. The story is very cartoonish and over-the-top but I enjoyed playing through it. There are several nods to publisher Sega, and a whole level that plays out like a level of Space Harrier.

Personally it is my favourite game by Platinum but Bayonetta's character design lacks mass market appeal.
