Obviously it won't see much success without some major support from developers/Sony/Microsoft (which is doubtful right now), but if it does what they say then it could very well be the future. If it proves its worth this could be a standard control method next generation, and whoever holds the patent will be very well off.
Seems to me we were just talking about this exact same concept last week...
