I know that the lastest fw is needed to access PSN. And to play some emulators, I don´t see why not. I liked the overclock feature on the PSP that allowed some games to run more smoothly, like I did it with Colin Mcrae Rally 2005 plus, it was sluggish at 222mhz but great at 333mhz. Other cool thing was a plugin that allowed the composite tv-out cable to play games on a tv, something that wasn´t allowed with normal fw.
I wished it would be possible to overclock the Vita just enough for some games to play better.
