Did you read the message? He even brings up that point. "I guess a very high percentage of Users don't even know this tool exists." He brought up this point for the people that aren't techy at all. |
That isn't "techy".
Granted, it may be a little beyond the neophyte user, but it isn't "techy". The way to resolve it isn't to open up the barn door and let the cows out. The way to resolve it is to write a support document on how people can revert an external HDD from an Xbox One formatting to a standard Windows/PC formatting. Likewise, offer instructions on how to dual-partition a HDD so you can use one-half for PC content and the other for Xbox One content.
Understand. The Xbox One partition on the HDD is for DRM content ONLY. Stuff you purchased through Xbox LIVE. Not your personal music or video collection.
Windows 7:
Click Start.
Right-Click Computer and select Manage.
Expand Storage and double-click Disk Management. The Disk Management console will appear.
(If not connected, connect the external HDD)
Right-click the external HDD and select Delete Volume.
Click Yes.
Right-click the unallocated space and select New Simple Volume.
Click Next.
Select Next again. (Unless you want to split the drive into two partitions, then set the partition to the size you want.)
Select a drive letter, then select Next.
Set the format for the drive to NTFS (should be defaulted), then type a name for the partition (i.e. External HDD), the click Next.
Click Finish.
If prompted to make the partition Dynamic, select No.
Done.
Windows 8 is roughly the same steps.
These are simple, straight-forward steps. Not rocket science.
