Looking at the article, he kind of admitted to back engineering it, which is against the eula...

He didn't say anything of the sorts. He just said if he wants to use the HDD as a pc drive again you have to do it a certain way. It's actually not really anything to do with the console itself. Just how you ruin an HDD if you want to use it with the xbone unless you are a more savy user.
