You have desktop PC right? If so then it is easy to replace the DVD drive. You could even go with a Blu-ray drive if you wanted (should have dropped in price in the past few years). If you have a laptop then good luck replacing that. Probably possible but not as easy as a desktop.
I destroyed a DVD drive back in the day from pounding the top of my PC (yea I used to abuse my computers). My rage only cost me about $40 (besides losing my keyboard holder tray on my cheap PC desk; ripped off the tray and broke it in half on my knee). So far I haven't abused my current PC and I don't have plans to. I try to keep my rage from making a fool out of me but I still like to abuse electronics that don't work properly.
