I believe it's because when people think of AMD they automatically believe products are inferior because of the lower price, which, IMO, makes absolutely no sense to me. The R9 290X actually outperforms a 780 Ti when gaming at 4K, so the performance difference this time is quite pointless since a 780 Ti is only better at 1080p. Not really sure why someone would buy a nVidia top-end card while AMD is making similar/better products at a much lower price, maybe PhysX or Shadowplay would make such an influence, but it's hard to say.
