I've only seen Mario Kart 8 adds on VGC but that could mostly be because I don't watch much TV. However, the TV I do watch would be good places to advertise, yet they don't. Not all advertising should be on children's TV.
I have seen two different advertisements for Yoshi's New Island and Tomodachi Life at the movie theatre, though. I saw the Yoshi's New Island one before Frozen and then the Tomodachi Life one before Maleficent.
