This is like saying that you would not use a bridge just because was made by a governement that you hate. EA make games with a good mechanic and concept, i really liked what they made with Mirror's edge, and i'm looking foward for the next one. The problem with EA its on their policies, like pushing DRM, microtransaction, putting unfinished games out there, etc.
I acquiried Mirrors edge by using the humble bundle, where nothing came into EA hands, so there is aways a way to pick the thing you like without really supportting all the nocives pratices, but its really hard to do.
About the 3DS version: EA actually made something rigth in the last version: put a label on it saying "legacy version" and cut the price by 10 bucks, so, you are not really getting tricked into think that will offer something different from last year, besides the re-skin.
Anyway, was a guy around here making a rumor about how things are going inside nintendo and so far i have no reason to think that he's wrong:
"EA internal studios have returned all Wii U dev kits. Will offer nominal 3DS support."
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
