No, the Wii U won't make the most sense in that particular case (which hardly qualifies for being a common scenario), because Activision has made it a habit to not confirm the existence of CoD on a Nintendo console until after E3, so CoD will not show up in a Nintendo presentation at E3 even if Nintendo wanted to show it. |
I did not say the scenario was common. It's hypothetical. However, note that this situation is only "uncommon" because of nintendo's approach with the Wii. Most COD fanatics now know ninty's system is not the right place to go.
I could repeat the same example by skipping 2 gens back. Imagine a gamer looking to choose between PS2/xbox/Gc after the Dreamcast expired. The person really loves Soul Blade/Soul Calibur on dreamcast and wants to play the sequel. He also likes nintendo's traditional offerings from owning a SNES in the past. Do you see how said individual would lean towards a GC in that gen if ninty advertised SCII with link? I don't see how this is so hard to understand especially when you're talking about just the PS4/XB1.
For M$ and Sony, confirming the presence of multiplats is very important. It's pretty hard to dispute that. I for one was just glad to new gameplay for many multiplats but many on this site just seem to only be interested in console war ammunition.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
