So much fail in this thread.
No, console gaming is not designed to appeal to the casual, console gaming is designed to become mainstream... or at least it tries.

And the failure comes from people that talk about revenue. When you have to resort to revenue to gauge a market, you know something's wrong, especially when the goods in the market keep getting more and more expensive.

Talk to me about profit, then I'll listen, but I'm sure it will paint a very different picture.

It's also pretty amusing that people cite exclusives going to PC, and when they do that, they cite the PS3 and XB360. They pretty much explain one of the reasons these two consoles are destroying console gaming, without even realizing it.
Notice how these people avoid talking about Wii games, as it actually has the most this generation, and yet, nearly none of its exclusives are going to PC. Actually, it's completely the other way around.

This cognitive dissonance is funny.

Wii isn't very comparable to PC, even though it's a home console, so they mainly target 360/PS3. And they did talk about the Wii and it's success.

As for the exclusives, Wii actually has games being ported to PC, but they usually are aiming for casual market, so it doesn't really stick in our minds.

The Sims 2: Castaway
Mysims
Ninja Reflex
Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 & 2
Horsez
Petz
My horse and me

boring stuff like that
