Bayonetta 2 won't get anywhere near 2 million and will probably end up losing money. While Nintendo didn't know that the Wii U would perform so badly, they probably knew going in that Bayonetta 2 likely wouldn't add to their bottom line. My belief is that they were willing to accept that in order to add a game with a more adult aesthetic to their platform. Clearly their own development studios aren't going to change their style so they elected to buy games like Bayonetta 2 and The Devil's Third instead.
