It's appeal is mainly for those who already own an X1, and the Halo core who are actually nostalgic for 10 year old multiplayer. The mainstream that makes Halo big won't really care, it'll just be "Those games I played years ago". We've seen this before with other HD remasters and remakes.

Halo 5 is where it's at for the mainstream, and pushing it back to 2015 essentially let's Sony take the Holidays.

 

Heck, I'll say this, Destiny will move more PS4s than Halo Collection will move X1s.

Exactly my thoughts as well.

Xbone owners said that price was the only reason why the PS4 is leading, yet the $399 Xbone SKU is sitting at #40 on amazon best sellers while there are 2 PS4 SKUs in the top 10.
