As I did not find any thread about this game console I suppose that I could create one. This is pretty much the first serious game console to come out of China, and the first console since the drop of the game ban last year.
The ZTE9 FunBox which was released earlier this year is a consle made in joint venture between the two companies ZTE and The9. ZTE is a hardware manufacturer most known for making smartphones here in China and The9 is a game developer which both develops games and translates foreign games into Chinese. The9 has partnership with ~90 Chinese android markets which has a piracy free guarantee, which in return attracts some foreign developers to let them translate and distribute their games. Their own Game Zone(gaming market) is directly connected with ~30 stores in China, and is the leading one as of today.
The9 has from their own statement around 100 million active users access their Game Zone, and their potential goal lies in 900 million users.
The GameBox at launch had 200 playable games available.
The price of the FunBox with one controller, a remote control and the necessary cables is at 699RMB (€85 or US$110). The FunBox is sold separately at the price of 499RMB and the controller for 199RMB.
The company ZTE expects to sell 3 million consoles by the end of 2014, and their official sales partner JD expects to sell 1 million in the same timeframe.
