Yes, someone losing their LCD TV back in 2006 would be devastating. I would be pissed and if the wrist strap broke then I would expect Nintendo to pay for damages (not sure if they ever did). Maybe I put too much blame on user (you really have to flail the controller around more than needed to have it fly out of your hand).

So it appears they were aware of the problem by then and corrected it just after launch. Took them no more than two months to rectify the problem. Same can't be said about Microsoft's response to RROD. I will admit that you do have a case with the launch defective wrist straps.
