I mean all you need to do to see Microsoft's Xbox strategy is look at all of their other market strategies: Leech off the winners.
-The Zune was a failed attempt to leech off the iPod's success.
-The Surface Tablet was a failed attempt to leech off the iPad's success.
-Xbox is trying to leech off of Playstation's success, and I suppose they have done a good job of it compared to their other ventures.
The sooner MS gets out of the console business, the sooner they will stop holding back the console business and make PC gaming as strong as it should be. Honestly if it wasn't for Valve, PC gaming probablt would have all but died in 2005.
