The head of Sony games Ken Kutaragi said to Japanese economics publication Toyo Keizai today that Sony's PS3 strategy is "for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."

The gist of what Sony was saying was they wanted people to want their product. This was said in 2005 before the price was announced in 2006. The media pretty much twisted the words into what they wanted for their Sony hating circus. Find another quote to use because that narrative is untrue, old, and tired.
