I think it's a real long shot , The PS2 came off the back of a hugely successful PS1 , and it steamrolled the competition.

Last gen split more evenly and although Wii U is experiencing sales closer to Nintendo's gen 6 level , the Xbone if I'm correct is tracking pretty good in comparison to the 360, so this seems to leave PS4 gaining market share at a great pace but more in line with Wii than PS2.

I have noticed quite a few people say it will go below Wii's pace in the next couple of years , but will have a more consistent back end to it's sale in comparison, to the Wii and it's sharp drop off.
This along with a more mature market and a sneaking suspicion we may have a shorter gen leads me to think it will end up some where around the Wii /PS1 in sales .

Honestly, for me between PS4 and XBOX ONE there is no challenge this generation.

I think XO will sold only 10,000,000 more of Wii U... and 120,000,000 less of PS4.

170,000,000--PS4

90,000,000---3DS

50,000,000---XBOX ONE

40,000,000---Wii U

20,000,000---PSVita
