I think if they do cartridges again they should be bigger than the ds. I swear I am going to lose my games setting it down. Hell they are small enough for the dog to lap up.
Overall I prefer carts though.
As for next gen
I don't see Sony going back to carts, Blu-ray is too full of win for them. MS ... maybe as they are trying to move to downloads. I can see a cart that you could take to a kiosk and bring home if you don't have internet....
Nintendo is the likelyest choice as they have the history with it . It would require an 8 GB flash cart to be under $5 for manufacture and I think they would go for it. 8GB is the same as dvd and would be enough for next-gen Wii I would guess.
They big reason I liek carts is that we could do away with moving parts in a game system. Until the RROD cd/dvd drives were almost the sole culpruit of broken game systems. Upside-down PS1 anyone?
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
