Al Bhed Magazines and Jecht Spheres are more than nothing I suppose. But I don't see much difference between pointless collectibles and nothing really.

The NPCs are more interesting than XIII, but that doesn't make them good at all. Both games have virtually no npcs - they're like zombies. Personally, I couldn't care less, as NPCs rarely have anything interesting to say in any game. I always felt they're a waste of time.

And all FFX's minigames suck. Blitzball is atrocious, chocobo racing is frustrating, doge-200-thunders-thing is just ridiculous. Between the hunts and the terrible mini-games of FFX, I'd choose the hunts anytime. Even nothing would be better really.

And story and characters remaing subjective. I can find plenty of people who enjoy the plot and cast of XIII, myself included.

Like I said though, hate XIII all you want. I just think you need legitimate reasons (I'm not saying you don't have good reasons to dislike the game). "Auto-battle" and linearity just sound silly to me.

I don't hate XIII, I platinumed it. And I never once mentioned auto-battle. You don't even know whay you are arguing with me, do you?

Your post reads like "I don't like the things you mention, so they don't count towards adding variety".

I didn't mention auto-battle implying that you complained about it. I think it wasn't very clear the way I said it, so I'm sorry. Also, I did have the impression you disliked XIII so... sorry about that too.

And about variety... well, you could argue there's variety, but... "dodging 200 thunders"? "Get a 0:0 time on the chocobo race"? Blitzball? C'mon, BLITZBALL? It had a lot of potential (as in "oh man, a sports minigame! Should be pretty fun!"), but then it just... sigh.

Do people really want variety SO MUCH that even mediocre or bad side stuff is acceptable? Tasks that are not even fun, but are included just to say "hey, it's more than battles"? I really think I'm sounding too fanboy-ish here, but the amount of people mentioning these things as some of the "qualities" of FFX completely baffles me.
