Don't be so sure. In the first 5 months,
XB1 2014 Sales : 4,539,150 - 2,919,036 = 1 620 114
WiiU 2014 Sales : 6,290,941 - 5,358,113 = 932 828
XB1 sold only 687286 more consoles in the first 5 months and the gap is still 1 751 791.
* XB1 has a clear substitute, named PS4, so it's against severe competition.
* WiiU has no clear substitute and has a largely different audience for nintendo exclusives, which are speeding up.
* XB1 has no presence in Japan, while WiiU is the biggest console right now, and still growing.
* XB1 is in BIG trouble in Europe, and behind WiiU.
* XB1's advantage in US may not be sufficient against WiiU due to stiff competition from Sony.
So things can go either way. Although I agree that XB1 will likely have a larger market share eventually, it's not that "locked down" right now.
