General - Is there a god? - View Post

I'm also a Christian and therefore I also believe in god, but maybe it's more a sort of a "I don't see a good alternative" than a faith thing for me.
You're not putting faith in god - you're putting faith in man, faith that man's creation of religion is correct.
Obviously there are plenty of alternatives to believing that a man lives in the sky and that children who are not dipped in magic water are going to hell.
A logical and smart person will make a decision for himself.
If Jesus was real, and furthermore if he really was god, his beliefs are messed up for being a perfect being - refusing to heal people because they're not Jewish, killing trees for no reason.
If Jesus was a real person that existed - you cannot blame him for the countless deaths in his name.
But if Jesus was real and a god (the god) you can certainly blame him for these deaths.
Furthermore -
If you agree that A it is wrong to cause people to suffer and B If it is wrong to let someone suffer, then you do not agree with God. Any person who reads the bible can agree that God does both of these things. Any of these logical conclusions must follow -
A. God is evil or

B. God doesn't exist
C. Assuming this god isn't real the people who believe in this god must be evil
D. If, in your opinion, God is evil, and does exist, than you're likely going to hell
And that is Christianity disproved. Or the evilness of God proved.
