I never liked the idea that I could be fighting tooth and nail with some guy for first place and some guy that is waaaaaaaaaay at the end of the line can use a weapon and influence the outcome. I kinda like how things are now. It still happens but it seems a little less likely. Before, it seemed like good strategy to kinda stay in second or third and wait until you got a star or a bullet. Now, I think it's good to just do your absolute best for three laps. Weapons don't spin you out for long, mushrooms aren't as overpowered, etc. Now, it feels like a racing game!
I wish some old powerups would return, though. The ghost, the fake "?" block, the feather (From MK1), but hey, I'm happy.
