It's still (arguably) the biggest trade show in the industry, it's like Christmas in June for many gamers, and it's the one time all year where the Big 3 console makers go head to head and try to one up and smack talk one another.

And if anyone believes that E3 is losing its influence on the industry, all you need to do is look back to last year's show and the huge momentum swing in Sony's favor that took place. How else would that amount of goodwill and PR be possible without a major industry show like E3?

Big Two, not three.... one of them decided that it was a waste of their time and resources.

Mote to nintendo, Best kinda marketing is free marketing. If you don't make the gaming press feel important, they won't think you are important either. Nintendo abandoning E3 is just another in a long line of strange decisions they have made. That was marketing suicide right there. Its better to drio feed information and allow the gaming media fight for scarps and in an attempt to one up eachothr give you more exposure; "see it here first", "(insert site name here) exclusive!!!"...etc. Nintendo direct wil really only ever be watched by people that already own a WiiU. Ah well.
