My problem with digital games is that I can't have them on all of my consoles. I have two of all my consoles. One in the living room, and one in the master bedroom. I wish the big 3 would employ apples policy of one account covers all systems. I have six apple devices and never have to rebuy any app or game on any of them. But if I download a digital copy of a game I can't do the same on a console or handheld. That is especially annoying with the 3ds where a lot of my games are suitable for my kids, and that forces me to get the carts instead of digital.
