I predict we'll get these announcements:

• A slew of returning characters: Wario, Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Falco, Ness, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Lucas, Wolf, Mr. Game & Watch, Ice Climbers, and R.O.B. With characters like Lucario and Ike returning, I now have doubts that any character from Brawl is being cut.
• While not exactly new characters, Lucina will be seen as a Marth alt and Chrom will be seen as an Ike alt.
• Pac-Man will be revealed
• Ridley will be revaled (as either a stage hazard or an actual character )
• Mii will be revealed.
• Chrom will be revealed.

Dream announcements:

• Knuckles is a Sonic alt.
• Tharja will be revealed.
• Death Stare Luigi will be a taunt.

I think the Smash Direct hinted at Ridley being a boss like the Yellow Devil in Mega Man's stage.
