Monster Hunter wasn't that Big on PS2 (it sold 0.6M, not a good number if you compare it to others CAPCOM game )
And i think that's the reason why Wii was chosen over PS3, because MH on PS3 requires much higher production cost, and MH is not popular outside Japan. MH3 on PS3 has a risk
But i wont be surprised if MH3 will hit jackpot on Wii, it can provide co-op play functions which are impossible on PS2 (as most PS2 owner never conneced their machine to internet)
If i were CAPCOM i will
1) let them transfer the save file from PSP to Wii (From Memory Stick to SD-Card), it certainly attract most MH2 player to MH3
2) let them upgrade their Armour/Weapons by wii points
