I think blu-ray sales will remain neglible until christmas '08 , a steady rise in market share is what i'm predicting unless HD downloads has something to say.

I wouldn't call 10-15% of market share "neglible". That's close to Apple Computer's %, would you call Apple computers that?

10-15% of the overall Disc bases movie sales or 10-15% of one movie ? the first is significant , the second is as I said neglible. I won't consider blu-ray signifant until it's reaching 25-40% of the overall disc based movie market until then I think that digital downloads are just as likely to suceed , we're still not exactly sure how the consumer is going to react to blu ray in the long term although i'm sure movie studios will do everything in their power to force it on them. I want blu-ray to suceed as this in turn boosts the Sony's profitabilty and covers the defecit made by the PS3 so that in the long term it wasn't a bad move to released such a technologicaly advanced console. But we still have to be realistic with ourselves. comparing the market share of a computer to optical media doesn't make for a good analogy in my opinion , gaining 5% of the computer market could be seen as much more of an achievment than 5% of the disc based movie market .different competition , selling points , costs , profit margins etc etc apple's market share is actualy much more significant in terms of value than blu-ray's (I think....I hope)
