+90%, with a few games that didn't reach 90% (but were near 90%), but because of players' opinions makes it AAA. Sins of a Solar Empire and FFVII were near 90% yet didn't reach it, but since they were highly acclaimed.

There are also games that reached 90%, but because the players' opinion wasn't so good, it removes the AAA status. Oblivion and Halo 3 both reached 90%, but both were a disappointment to many players, so they aren't AAA.

That is my definition. Sales and hype are pointless, Quality is the only thing that matters.

FF7 stands at 92%. H3 and Oblivion are considered AAA games, despite what a minority may think. I could just as easily say FF7 can't be AAA since many do not like the game.

I remember seeing FFVII on metacritic at 89%, they must've added more sources since then.

And Oblivion and Halo are not AAA.  So far my perception is that the majority of people either was disappointed by Oblivion, or didn't like the game. Not AAA.

Halo 3 is not AAA, pure and simple. It's not better than COD4, Orange Box, Bioshock, Crysis and Quake Wars. And Stalker would've beaten it if it weren't for the bad optimization.
