Yes, because they thought the game could do better. It's expected that big games do far more than break even. I don't understand why people get on their case about that.

Yeah I guess it somewhat shows the trend AAA games are taking. Bioshock Infinite sold great but it didn't meet their expectations as well. Games are getting expensive to make.

Yes, but the real issue is that publishers look at things in formulas. All of the games above reviewed well, well received by gaming communities, had wide appeal,and were advertised. They did what they could to get the most out of the game, it was less than they thought they would get. That's why we saw definitive edition for Tomb Raider imo.

I agree with all of that. It was only after the Definitive Edition sold its share that SE said Tomb Raider did indeed meet expectation.
