I priced an Antec Sonata 3 with 500w PSU (quiet)
Gigabyte 780g motherboard
4gb crucial ram
Vista OEM
5000+BE + fan
$450 after MIR
Thats with high quality components and gives you $200 more to spend on say a tv tuner+graphics card.
damnit forgot the HDD, add another $100
Alternatively if quietness wasnt a concern and you were definately getting a graphics card you could drop $100 off between the Case and the Motherboard to go with something a little less techy. Alternatively if you have XP already you can keep that and save another $100 since you'd require less ram.
