And by the way, the fact that Nintendo put Megaman in it suggests that there may be a Nintendo exclusive Megaman game in the works because as far as I know Nintendo doesn't include characters in smash bros that aren't actively relevant in current games. |
The first one sold reasonably well, but the second did not. Keiji Inafune at the time of development was having issues with Capcom management which may or may not have factored into the decision. In addition, the 3DS was selling incredibly poorly at the time of cancellation.
At this point, the situation is different. The game has gotten a huge amount of press from its cancellation, the 3DS has a healthy install base, and things are generally more favorable. Unfortunately, it seems ego is getting in the way of a win-win situation.
