| Zekkyou said: You're forgetting that Ryse is a 6 hour static story, while Heavy Rain was a 10 hour dynamic story that for which the player's choices and actions had actual meaning to the lives of the characters and story as a whole. That was one of the major criticism against Two Souls, it lacked that feeling of control that made Heavy Rain feel so immersive. |
Beyond 2 souls was longer than Heavy rain, the decisions that matter are spread out more, yet there are more of them than in Heavy rain. I didn't feel that it lacked control, the pacing could have been tightened up though. And jumping back and forward through the timeline makes it a very confusing first playthrough, which makes it seem that your actions hardly have any consequences. I started appreciating the control you have over the story while going back to chapters to unlock the extras. You can kill or save most of the main characters, including yourself, what more control do you want.
Beyond 2 souls is a mixed bag.
The condensor, The mission, Hunted, Broken, Dragon's hideout were all great chapters.
The party, the dinner, groan worthy.
Homeless, Navajo, too slow.
The rest was just average.
