Indeed, if History has something to prove, that's The Witcher.
Whereas the first game in each installment, Dragon Age was vastly superior, The Witcher was still a solid title (and much, much older than DA:O. In fact, it used a modified Neverwinter Nights 2 engine to make it run).
Then you have the sequels, where Dragon Age 2 succeeded in some areas, it also failed horribly in some other. On the other hand, you have The Witcher 2, which completely improved over its predecessors in every single area (minus longevity; the first game was longer).
And now we have DA:Inquisition and The Witcher 3. The first one has a lot to prove; the second one comes with positive buzz. It's up to Bioware to prove they still have it; CD Projeckt Red doesn't need to prove anything, as they have shown they're talented devs.
