I still see Ryse as a complete game more than both Heavy Rain and Beyond which imo are more like interactive movies. Of course they'll be marketed as cinematics experiences and people who enjoy these will brag about graphics and story because gameplay isn't their strong point.

Ryse has graphics, story and they tried to fit decent gameplay mechanics in there but it needed more work.

People were harsh with this game for many reasons I will not talk about. Hope Crytek comes with another Ryse. It's not as bad as some would want you to believe.

What was wrong with Heavy Rain's gameplay?

HR doesn't have particular interesting gameplay to be honest. The story may be good but all you do is looking for the next trigger event that'll show you a cut scene. Your character, even if he's in a realistic environment, behaves more like a robot than anything, walking around constantly moving his head looking at triggers... I'm sorry but that was annoying imo. The only time I though the game shined was when there was a cut scene other than that not much to be excited gameplay wise.
