Although it is a good game and the story seems really interesting at the start, it does lose steam eventually. Moreover the end game dungeons are quite dull, that coupled with high frequency of random encounters and confusing layouts can frustrate many players. Additionally the immortal characters are far superior technically, so your mortal characters are essentially feeding vessels, some balance would have been nice.
What i like most about the game were the towns, and interaction with the people there, the southern coastal town was the most charming of all. And it has a superb power levelling system, which if you are a completionist you would greatly enjoy.
If you like old school JRPGs, you will surely enjoy most parts, but I was very disappointed with the story arc which lacked depth and had started very strongly. (unlike FF13 which had shallow characters but the plot setting and motivations of the antagonists managed to take it to another level).
After 92 hours spent with 100% completion, the game is a solid 7.5, the game could have been so much more and it makes me sad that Mistwalker was unable to realise the vision they had when they started it.
PS: Its wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Blue Dragon, so thats a plus :D
