Yup corporations can "flip the boardgame" if they don't like how the game goes and start anew without damaging the brand. If the next console is great then the fans will forgive and move on. That is exactly what MS did with 360 releasing early and Nintendo (from a business perspective) with the Wii.
One of the only good things I can think of that will come from PS4 dominating at the expense of their competition. Nintendo and MS will start a new gen MUCH sooner then last gen and force Sony to react, most likely late.
Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
